Nothing incredibly fancy going on here. I am Andy Phillips, a sixtiesh married with children guy who has a blessedly tolerant wife and three great kids. When I started this website, I had lots of free time. I didn't think I did back then, but when I went back to school (Lincoln Law in San Jose), I realized how much more free time I had then than while in school. I always kept working full time but switched careers back to banking during year four of law school. Law school ended with my 5/13 graduation and I headed into bar prep. That "little quiz" took me through 8/1/13, so as I write this three weeks later, I'm running out of excuses for not updating the site.
My wife and I live with our youngest child (son) in San Jose, California, where I work for a truly superb business bank, Bridge Bank (www.bridgebank.com). If you go to their website, you'll find lots of information and can see for yourself why they are so good at serving the greater silicon valley business community. If you search under Philllips, you'll even see a newer picture all dressed up and a little background. My wife works for AT&S Americas, LLC, which makes really spiffy printed circuit boards used in many of the devices we use every day.
Although I would love someone to come knock on my door and offer me a million dollars for my thoughts, that isn't likely to happen, so this is a just-for-fun endeavor at this point. We love wine and seem to find some really wonderful wines, sometimes in obscure places, and other times at good sized wineries that we visit.
We are in very few wine clubs, including Burrell School, Meeker, and the Grapevine, which is a unique wine shop in Willow Glen near where we live.
Both my wife and I drink more reds than whites, probably about three to one. Like a lot of people, I find our tastes changing, so we sometimes get into a rut of enjoying one varietal more than another. I love exploring some of the wines that were historically used in blending, and have found a bunch of really nice bottles of Tannat, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Lenoir, Semillon, Alicante Bouschet and others that I'm not used to seeing as a single varietal.
I like to drink wine, and wine is best enjoyed in the company of others. Feel free to email me any time at Andy@WineHack.net comments, recommendations, or anything you think might make this site more fun or interesting. I don't have a great deal of time to deal with it every day, but will try to keep things up to date.
